Modulation of the pulses of eclipse binaries.
Crédit : Paris Observatory /LESIA

In an eclipse binary system, one of two components successively passes in front of the other. This yields significant brightness variations in the system, a phenomenon similar to transits.

Moreover, if one of the two stars pulses, the variations due to the pulses are modulated when it is partially eclipsed.

The weak variations of the pulse amplitude will give indications on the geometric structure.
