Luminosity/temperature graph (HR) of stars observed by CoRot during 150 days. Each colour corresponds to a different observation. The brightest stars are indicated by a square.

The space mission CoRoT has been designed to observe vibrations of a wide number of different stars in unique conditions :

  • During periods from one to five months
  • With very good continuity (greater than 90%)
  • Until very low amplitude levels : intensity variations of the order of one millionth will be observed in about one hundred stars; variations of the order of ten thousandth in several thousands of stars.

CoRoT will observe at least one hundred bright stars, one half during 150 days, the rest during 20 or 30 days. These stars have various properties, as shown in the luminosity/temperature diagram.
