Some projects use techniques other than the radial velocity method :

  • MPS (Microlensing planet search) uses the gravitational focusing technique. It searches for the amplifications of the light of the stars due to the passage of dark objects (unobservable with another method) in front of them. http://www.nd.edu/~srhie/MPS/
  • PLANET (Probing Lensing Anomalies NETwork) is an international collaboration for the observation of permanently gravitational microlensing events, which last typically one month. http://planet.iap.fr/
  • The search for planets around particular objects like pulsars is led with the chronometry technique. http://www.astro.psu.edu/users/alex/pulsar_planets.htm
  • The photometric observation of a large number of stars is used to detect transits of exoplanets with the American program 0.80m APT (Automatic Photoelectric Telescope). http://schwab.tsuniv.edu/t8.html
